RD series rotary actuators are positioning units designed to automate format change operations and auxiliary axis adjustments. They make production processes more flexible and efficient, shorten time for new formats, reduce costs, breakdowns, and minimize the risks of error and waste.
Countless applications are ideally suitable, even in case of retrofitting to replace flyers in manual adjustment systems for which no mechanical modification is necessary. They integrate into a single brushless motor device, real multi-digital absolute encoder, feedback electronics with closed ring control and interface that can be both Profinet and Profibus.
The all-in-one configuration radically simplifies their integration, installation and commissioning.
The Profinet interface enables Real Time (RT) and Isochronous Real Time (IRT) communications and supports media redundancy (MRP) according to IEC 62439.
The Profibus interface, on the other hand, conforms to the Profibus-DP variant.
RD actuators are available in four models with distinct powers and characteristics.
RD5 / RD53 is the entry-level model, compact in size, with a rated torque of 5 Nm. The encoder is 18-bit and mounted directly on the output shaft. It is also available with brake for safety parking.
RD1A/RD12A is the most versatile, available in a variety of 1.2 to 5 Nm nominal pairs, integrates a 20-bit encoder, calibration jog buttons, and an RS-232 service interface for set-up and diagnostics. It is also available in the brake version.
RD4 is the heavy-duty actuator for continuous use. It boasts 10 and 15 Nm nominal pairs and integrates a 20-bit encoder and gears into the oil bath.
RD6 is the latest addition, the most powerful with engines of 150 and 250 W (torque 0.5 and 0.8 Nm) and 28-bit multi-turn encoders. Unlike the others, it offers a protruding shaft 14 mm in diameter.
